地域施設立地計画における空間的相互作用モデルから確率モデルによる利用者選択最適化分析をはじめ、空間視覚的情報処理の過程及び行動環境評価解析研究として、子どもの通学歩行行動や公共施設・地下街等目的探索行動、複雑環境条件下での避難行動の検証・定量化分析等を研究の主軸として長年取り込んでいる。また地域における防災インフラ整備評価や避難行動予測等の課題に際し、土砂災害や火災など広域、室内避難での人間行動の特性分析をはじめ、住民アンケート調査や避難シミュレーションの手法を駆使して検証解析を行っている。そして、地方都市安全安心な暮らしの実現や大学キャンパス環境改善等への取り込みにおいて、教育・研究の実践として地域活性化研究や学内研究助成を長年関わり、その成果はSDGs目標の実現に寄与している。さらに、海外大学や研究機関との学術交流をはじめ、中国都市における歴史的空間構成や建築文化的象徴性等の研究も推進している。

 病原性ウイルスであるインフルエンザウイルスやムンプスウイルスを簡便に(できれば家庭でも)検出できる方法の開発を通して、薬剤耐性ウイルスの検出方法や効果のある薬剤を短時間で判別する方法の研究を起こっています。 並行して、ウイルスが増殖するための機能を検出する事で、新たな薬剤(ウイルス増殖に必要な機能を停止させる物質)の探索も行っています。また、有機化学と生化学(ウイルス学、生物学)という2つの分野にまたがる内容であるため、他大学(静岡県立大学)との協同研究を積極的に行っています。

「点」とそれらをつなぐ「線」を用いて表現される「グラフ」や「ネットワーク」は、地域間の物流や経路選択、それから人間関係の分析にも有用な構造です。さて、実際にこれらを活用するときには単純なデータにまとめた「モデル」に変換して分析するのですが、現実のデータは0と1のデジタルな関係のみとは限りません。そこで、0でも1でもないファジィな関係性や数値を導入した「ファジィネットワーク」を導入し、分析していきます。
